Count Flights Not Calories

It’s the day you thought you were prepared for, passport, luggage, & cell phone are confidently marked off the mental checklist. Check-in at TSA was a breeze leaving time to kick your feet up in the lounge area before boarding. All of a sudden aromas of greasy burgers & sugary sweets snake their way to your nose, as tempting as it would be to pick up a cinnamon roll you are trying to stick to a healthy diet.

When it comes to travel, staying on track with nutrition intake may seem like a major effort. There is nothing worse than a grumbling stomach while strapped in your airplane seat on a 13-hour flight. Having some protein filled nutritional goodies is a great way stay satisfied and easier than you think to keep on hand.

 Here are some of my top travel treats!

Go-Tien Bars

Think Thin Bar– Gluten free & low on sugar (0g-5g) carrying 10-20grams of Protein at 150-230 calories per bar with fiber to keep you full. Taste is overall satisfying for a mild sweet tooth.

One Bar– With flavors like birthday cake, cheesecake, and other desserts these bars are too delicious to be considered healthy! Surprisingly, they contain only 1g of sugar, up to 22g of protein, Gluten free, 10g of fiber and up to 230 calories.

Power Bar (Clean Whey)– There was a lot of excitement when Power Bar came out with a bar made of more natural ingredients (including plant protein options) & no artificial sweeteners compared other Power Bar products. Containing 2g of sugar, 5g or less of net carbs, and 20grams of protein this on the go snack is irrespirable.

Pop, Drop, Ziploc it

Country Archer Beef Jerky– Without jerking you around truthfully this brand isn’t the highest with 7g of protein on the upside it does have much less of fillers. Each pouch is guilt free with 70 calories, 1g of fat, 280 mg sodium, 4g carbs, and 4g sugar.

Sea Point Farms Dry Roasted Edamame-Not only does this snack have healthy amounts of fiber, 14g protein and antioxidants at only 130 calories per serving it will have your taste buds asking for more!

Almonds– Being a celebrity nut, almonds have made headway ranking to be the number one go-to for a quick fix to keep the munchies away. Although tiny, they are jam packed with around 20g of protein, three sugars, and 11g of fiber in a handful. Talk about good things coming in small packages!

Want to keep it Fresh? No Problem!

Sometimes dehydrated foods don’t cut it, have no fear we also included a few airport fresh food purchases you can make that will not rock your diet strides.

Oatmeal– Plain oats are an excellent source of fiber, low in sugar, & have 7g of protein. Mix it up a little by adding some fruit or cinnamon for flavor.

Chobani Simply 100 Yogurt – Now promising no artificial flavors & only 8 grams of sugar, this creamy delight is good for stomach health including a 10g protein boost.

Fruit– Apples, Bananas, & Oranges, you can’t go wrong grabbing one of these naturally sweet treats that also include vitamins to help keep you grinding!

Having these snacks tucked in your pack will help save you from making a food decision that will leave you with calorie remorse. Besides having a guilt-free conscious they also give you the energy needed for adventures ahead.
