The Fit Fruit

Power Fruit

Lately, I have been growing tired of my winter oatmeal routine and wanted to mix things up. Although, oatmeal is nutritious and can be prepared in different ways, most times I am still hungry afterward. Hitting the gym often along with the daily grind I was in need of something with a little power.  Viola! The avocado! Mixing this beauty fruit into my morning meal has given my plate some color and keeps my tummy happy. With its multiple benefits, the avocado has been popping up more often in fitness foodie world. To spread the love below are two recipes that can be altered to any preference.

Hope you like them!

Goddess Bowl

A Goddess shines from the inside out. Bring out your inner Goddess with a delicious green smoothie bowl! I have seen the idea of smoothie bowls circling the fitness pages and decided to create my own recipe. Eating one beautiful bowl in the morning for breakfast or for post work out makes me feel fuller longer and have consistent energy throughout the day.

Along with it being breakfast art my Goddess bowl recipe is packed with healthily fats, iron, protein, and fiber.  The ingredients used also help hair and skin glow to keep you looking like the Goddess you were born to be!

Smoothie Base

-1/2 avocado

-1/2 cup spinach

-1/2 cup cashew milk (or milk of choice)

* You can also add a scoop of protein powder *

Blend ingredients all together, if you prefer smoothies chilled throw some ice cubes while blending. The texture should be thick and creamy. If it’s too watery it will be hard to eat with a spoon.  When you are satisfied with your base pour into a bowl and add some toppings!

Toppings

-sliced half banana (fruits of choice)

-Chia/flax seeds

-nuts

-dried fruit

*Feel free to get creative with toppings!*

Avocado Toast

Don’t have time to make a Goddess bowl? No worries! This avocado toast recipe is an 8-minute breakfast with the same protein and healthy fats.

-Toast (I use  Daves Killer Bread  )

  1. Oh I love the phrase “breakfast art.” Let’s face it, if any meal doesn’t have color(s), and presentation, it doesn’t look good enough to eat. Both your visuals look yummy to me. I’m just getting around to eating avocado. The texture put me off at first. Then I went to luncheon where the restaurant was serving an avocado soup. Since I include soup in my vegetarian diet in the morning, I decided to make some. I include lots of avocado, corn, and Roma tomatoes in a vegetable broth. I don’t thin it out too much because I like the chunks. I also have a piece of fruit and some granola, or hot cereal with almonds, walnuts and fruit. I stay full with the soups and cereal mix until around 4pm. Then it’s smoothie time!!!

I will now consider making myself a “Goddess Bowl.” Another phrase you mentioned that I love. Thanks for the prompt!
